Housing

Motu’s housing research includes Marsden-funded work on the determinants and impacts of home ownership, and investigates a range of other housing issues.

Recent research has also addressed the way different taxation systems can affect the housing market, and the effects of the New Zealand Insulation Fund in terms of household energy use and health outcomes. Reports from the assessment of Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart are now available, including a cost-benefit analysis of the programme and work on its effects on energy use, health service utilisation and health outcomes, and industry and employment.
