Sean joined Motu in late 2011 after completing his BCA (Hons) at Victoria University of Wellington, majoring in economics, where he enjoyed the opportunity to learn and develop as research assistant to Motu Senior Research Associate Prof. Dean Hyslop. He left in July 2015 and headed to Chicago where he is considering undertaking his PhD.
Whilst at Motu, Sean worked alongside Arthur Grimes in projects related to New Zealand’s regional housing markets, including developing a policy evaluation tool for MBIE and examining the diffusion of commodity price impacts across communities.
Outside of Motu Sean continues to study, currently focusing on undergraduate mathematics with the goal of higher study in economics in the near future. Of particular interest are the fields of econometrics, labour economics and health economics. Sean also enjoys reading a wide array of literature, and is often training for a marathon or triathlon, in order to keep both mind and body ready.
